1st Global President David Knoch Elected to Financial Services Institute Board of Directors
Dec 4, 2014
Dallas — December 4, 2014 —1st Global President David Knoch was recently selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Financial Services Institute (FSI). Knoch has been an active member of FSI since joining in 2005. He is a former chair of FSI’s OneVoice and Investment Advisory Council and, in that role, served one year on the Board of Directors in 2009. As a passionate advocate for the power of independent financial advice, Knoch stands for creating better outcomes and fostering in others the courage to do the same.
“As a long-time member of FSI, I’ve seen firsthand the influence that this organization has on the financial services industry and on the policies affecting it,” says Knoch. “It’s a true honor to have been selected to serve on the FSI Board of Directors and to be able to contribute to the organization’s impact on behalf of independent financial advisors and broker dealers across the nation.”
FSI has one clear mission: To ensure that all individuals have access to competent and affordable financial advice, products and services delivered by a growing network of independent financial advisors and independent financial services firms.
Composed of executives and financial advisors from leading financial services companies, the primary role of the 16-member, volunteer Board is to ensure FSI fulfills this mission by working in partnership with FSI leadership and professional staff to set organizational strategy, establish FSI’s advocacy agenda and priorities, and ensure that association resources are deployed for maximum effectiveness. In addition to participating in several events and meetings throughout the year, Board members champion FSI membership in their firms and throughout the industry.
“FSI’s purpose is similar to that of 1st Global, which is to enable intentional living through accepting personal responsibility for outcomes, honoring the promises we’ve made to the ones we love, having courage to always do the right thing, and boldly advocating for free enterprise. I look forward to working with other Board members, FSI staff and members to achieve our collective vision for the future of the financial services industry,” says Knoch.
1st Global strongly believes in the importance of advocating for the profession and has been an integral supporter of FSI since its founding in 2004. 1st Global Chairman and CEO, Tony Batman, was FSI’s founding chairman and the company’s partnership has helped FSI become the organization that it is today. In addition, 1st Global recognizes a financial advisor who “energetically champions the protection and advancement of the entire independent wealth management profession” with the Advocate Award at its annual National Conference. Past winners include 1st Global affiliates that are active members of FSI: Kive Strickoff of Strickoff Financial Services, LLC in Garden City, New York and Denise Barrows of Denise Barrows of Barrows Wealth Management in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
FSI’s large presence on Capitol Hill and efforts to lobby the nation’s lawmakers has aided in ensuring rules and regulations remain in the favor of financial advisors and their clients. This makes FSI one of the leading advocacy groups for independent financial advisors and broker dealers.
