1st Global Employees Enjoy Halloween Festivities at Recent Company Event
Nov 14, 2016
1st Global, a research and consulting partner to select CPA and wealth management firms, recently held its annual Halloween company engagement event to recognize its employees’ achievements over the last quarter and also to celebrate one of the company’s favorite holidays together.
The festivities centered on a “Creepy CarnEVIL” theme and allowed employees to enjoy typical carnival snacks, including corn dogs, cotton candy and funnel cakes. Departments were decorated in a variety of themes, such as a “Tribute to Prince,” “Star Wars” and “The Price Is Right,” to name a few. Prior to the announcement of the department decorating contest winners and the highly anticipated costume contest, Assistant Vice President of General Counsel Judith Knudsen, JD, was presented with the Employee of the Quarter award for her diligence and care in assisting an advisor with his specific case as well as her prudent review of a large number of contracts within a company-wide initiative.
The group costume contest ensued, and various departments paraded through the room to show off their themed attired. The Wealth Management Consulting Group notched third place as “Dominoes,” the Software Development Department took home second place as “Star Wars,” and the Compliance Department stole the show with its “Tribute to Prince,” taking home the gold in both the group contest and the department decorating contest.
Halloween is traditionally one of the favorite events of many members of the Compliance Department, and as always, the group costume and department decorations turned out to be a great team-building and bonding event,” Assistant Vice President of Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer of 1st Global Capital Corp. Adam Schaub said. “Everyone was able to create a unique costume within our theme, and we put a lot of planning and effort and worked together to make our shared vision become a reality. We were thrilled to win, especially considering all of the other great ideas that all of the departments around the company came up with.”
Employees were also entertained by the individual costume contest, and the volunteer judges were overly impressed with three participants in particular: Business Continuity Plan Analyst Amy Trifone as “When Doves Cry” (third place), Business Development Licensing and Research Specialist Amber Allen as “Princess Barbie” (second place), and Regulatory Principal Senior Advisor Scott Kimpson as “Madea” (first place). It was certainly a memorable day for the entire company and one that sparked enthusiasm within many individuals.
“The amount of participation, company-wide, was at an all-time high — it was fantastic!” Multimedia Specialist Desiree Damon (who won the pumpkin decorating contest) said. “Halloween always proves that there is nothing we do — whether it’s discussing projects in meetings, helping advisors solve problems or celebrating with each other — that can’t be made even more enjoyable through creativity and costumes!”
1st Global’s next employee engagement event is the annual Thanksgiving luncheon, featuring traditional holiday dishes and a time for employees to share memories and gratitude with one another. This feast will take place on Thursday, Nov. 10, at the home office.
